We Are the Light – Sydney New Year’s Eve Anthem

For the first time ever, Sydney had an official anthem, “We are the Light”, for 2011 Sydney New Year’s Eve. Download the song from iTunes

The Anthem, “We are the Light”, was written by Nick Wood and is performed by some exciting up and coming Aussie talent, including the Sydney Children’s Choir.
Wood said the anthem was written to bring Sydney, Australia and the world together.

Working with the team at Imagination, and with super-producer Andrew Bojanic to write, record and produce the anthem, he wanted to create a song that was “all about dreams, self-belief and following your heart.”

For Sydney New Year ‘s Eve Producer Aneurin Coffey, releasing the anthem helps “build anticipation for the biggest night of the year in the best city in the world.”

In addition, all proceeds from sales of the official anthem go to international humanitarian agency CARE Australia, the official charity partner of Sydney New Year ‘ s Eve 2011.
“This allows us to raise awareness and much needed funding for CARE Australia and their cause,” Coffey said.

The anthem features lead vocals by Joe Pringle and Liz Bojanic, with backing vocals by the Sydney Children’s Choir, and an all-star band.
