Road Closures
On New Years Eve and New Year’s Day there will be some roads closed in Sydney before, during and after the event. Read the information below to plan ahead and ensure you are aware of the road closures and how they affect your travel.
Road closures will be in place on Sydney New Year’s Eve and are at the discretion of NSW Police. Closures include roads around the Sydney CBD, Darling Harbour, Royal Botanic Gardens, North Sydney and other Sydney Harbour foreshore vantage points.
The closures are intended to improve pedestrian and motorists safety and to help ensure the smooth flow of crowds from CBD Harbour foreshore vantage points to transport terminals.
Be aware that road closures affect the normal bus transport routes and no traffic will be allowed in or out of any of the road closure areas. Refer to the Public Transport page closer to the event.
Please be aware that there will be parking restrictions applied with special event clearways enforced throughout the Sydney CBD, North Sydney, Pyrmont and other foreshore areas.
Local road closures will also be in place around popular spectator vantage points on the night. Plan ahead. Refer to the Vantage Points map for more information.
