Local park information
Access to local parks will be different on New Year’s Eve so that everyone can safely enjoy the celebrations.
Beare Park
Beare Park is a free, non-ticketed vantage point this New Year’s Eve. The site will be supported by the following inclusions for this year’s event:
portable toilets (including an accessible toilet) – installed on 30 December and removed 1 January
security – from 4pm, 31 December to 1am, 1 January
fencing around the small pond area in the park.
We’ll aim to keep noise levels and disruption to a minimum as we prepare for and pack down the event.

Bicentennial Park
Bicentennial Park is a free non-ticketed vantage point.
Access to Bicentennial Park may be disrupted from 6am, 30 December to 4pm, 31 December and from 9am, 1 January to 5pm, 2 January as we prepare for and pack down the event.
Nine car spaces on the eastern side of Chapman Road car park will be used as a loading zone from 6am, 29 December to 5pm, 2 January. An extra 12 car spaces on the western side of Federal Road will be used as a loading zone from 6am, 29 December to 5pm, 2 January.

lighting towers.
Site management reserves the right to refuse entry and remove disruptive, intoxicated or offensive people.

Embarkation Park
Embarkation Park is a free, non-ticketed vantage point managed by the City of Sydney. Re-entry is not permitted, so if you’re planning to celebrate at Embarkation Park, please bring everything you need and arrive early together with friends and family.
Access to Embarkation Park may be disrupted from 6am, 29 December. The park will also close at 8am, 31 December as we prepare for the event and will reopen at 4pm. Pack up of the event will take place from 8am, 1 January to 5pm, 1 January. We’ll aim to keep noise level and disruption to a minimum.
McDonald Lane will be closed to vehicles from 6am, 31 December to 4am, 1 January. Victoria Street and Challis Avenue will be closed to vehicles from 7pm, 31 December to 4am, 1 January.
Three car spaces on the eastern side of Victoria Street (between Challis Avenue and McDonald Lane) will be used as a loading zone from 6am, 29 December to 6am, 31 December and from 4am to 5pm on 1 January. An extra 3 car spaces will also be used on the southern side of McDonald Lane from 6am, 29 December to 6am, 31 December and 4am to 5pm on 1 January.

Alcohol, glass and sharp objects are not permitted at Embarkation Park on New Year’s Eve and bags will be checked. Site management reserves the right to refuse entry and remove disruptive, intoxicated or offensive people.

Giba Park
Giba Park is a free, non-ticketed vantage point managed by the City of Sydney. Re-entry is not permitted, so if you’re planning to celebrate at Giba Park, please bring everything you need and arrive early together with friends and family.
Access to Giba Park may be disrupted from 6am, 30 December. The park will also close at 8am, 31 December as we prepare for the event and will reopen at 4pm. Pack up of the site will take place from 9am to 5pm on 1 January. We’ll aim to keep noise level and disruption to a minimum.
Point Street will be closed to vehicles from 7pm, 31 December to 4am, 1 January.
The City of Sydney will use 4 car spaces on Point Street West and 2 car spaces on Mill Street from 6am, 30 December to 7pm, 31 December and from 4am to 5pm on 1 January for equipment set up and removal.

Pirrama Park
Pirrama Park is a free, non-ticketed vantage point managed by the City of Sydney. This year, the park will not be fenced along its external perimeter, allowing for a more accessible and inclusive area to celebrate the new year.
Access to Pirrama Park may be disrupted from 6am, 29 December to 2pm, 31 December and from 7am, 1 January to 5pm, 2 January as we prepare for and pack down the event. The park will operate as a vantage point from 2pm, 31 December to 1am, 1 January.
The Pirrama Park boardwalk will be closed from 10am, 31 December to 2am, 1 January for safety reasons as heavy loading is not permitted on the wharf.
The City of Sydney will use 25 car spaces on the northern side of Pirrama Road from 6am, 30 December to 6am, 31 December, and 5 more car spaces on the eastern side of Pirrama Road from 6am, 29 December to 6am, 31 December for set up of the event. We’ll also use 25 car spaces on the northern side and an extra 5 car spaces on the eastern side from 4am, 1 January to 5pm, 2 January as we pack down the event.

Observatory Hill Park

Access to Observatory Hill Park may be disrupted from 6am, 29 December. The park will also close at 8am, 31 December as we prepare for the event and will reopen at 12pm. Pack up of the event will take place from 6am, 1 January to 5pm, 2 January. We’ll aim to keep noise level and disruption to a minimum.
Watson Road and Upper Fort Street will be closed from 8am, 31 December to 4am, 1 January.
Access to the park during the event will be through the bottom of Watson Road only.
The City of Sydney will use 6 car spaces on Upper Fort Street from 6am, 29 December to 8am, 31 December, and 11 car spaces on Upper Fort Street from 4am, 1 January to 5pm, 2 January for equipment set up and removal.
